Today, we are going to read a humorous bedtime storybook, “Good Night, Gorilla” by Peggy Rathmann.

I tried reading this book in the classroom so I can guarantee that the kids will have a good time.

First, PURPOSE, AUTONOMY and PROGRESS.

Purpose: For children to think about animals and their well-being

Autonomy: For children to draw a comparison between human needs and animal needs

Progress: For children to make a presentation about their favorite animal

Here, they can write water, food, shelter, warmth, care (esp. in times of sickness), play, etc.

III.C. Make a Presentation

Students will make a presentation that features their favorite animal. This is an opportunity for kids to practice researching, public speaking, and creativity. They will have the freedom to talk about animal habitats, eating habits, everyday life, trivia etc. Sky’s the limit.
